Wildrose Kennels Midwest is proud to be hosting our inaugural Wildrose Cup. Modeled after a British style field trial, handlers and their dogs will compete in a two day trial filled with various challenges for handlers and dogs alike. However, unlike a traditional field trial which dismisses dogs throughout the process, all of our participants will compete the entire weekend, regardless of their performance in any one event. The weekend will be filled with lots of training and support from our Wildrose team in between the actual judged events.
Schedule of events:
Friday afternoon training session. Participants and their dogs are encouraged to come out to the Wildrose Training Grounds for some structured warm up exercises. Our team of trainers will be on hand to work with you and your dog on any refinements that you may want or need help with.
Saturday am will consists of judged field trial events. Dogs will be working individually, but definitely need to honor the work of other dogs who will be working in the same area. Lunch will be served on Saturday after the morning trials and then Saturday afternoon will be set up for more un-judged training. All participants are invited to a group dinner at Kohler’s River Wildlife cabin.
Sunday am will consist of a second series of field trial events and shooting sports. At the conclusion of Sunday morning, the judges will convene and present awards for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place for our participants.
Dogs will be competing in events on land and on water. Retrieves will be “assigned” based on the capabilities of the dogs. For instance if there is more junior dog, it may be sent on a mark that is 50 yards away versus a more senior dog who might be sent on a blind retrieve 150 yards away. Handlers will also have the opportunity to impact their scoring based on shooting skills that will be supervised by a trained shooting instructor.

Wildrose Kennels in combination with Max McGraw will be holding our annual Duck Camp Warm Up. During this action-packed day, participants and their dogs will be challenged in 8 different duck hunting scenarios set on open water, rivers and streams, and fields. Dogs will work out of panel blinds, Dog hides, Goose hides, platforms, boats and will be navigating around decoys and obstacles while retrieving live ducks.
